English: A hanging noose used at public executions which took place at the rear of Lancaster Castle during the reign of King William IV circa 1820 - 1830. The noose has a heavy-duty metal hook at one end. Adjacent to the noose is an original invoice relating to costs incurred (One pound, 15 shillings and 8 pence) during the execution of John Heyes on 6 September 1834.
